Take the 5 Week Challenge!
Have you ever felt like you and your partner are speaking completely different languages? One of you wants something done a certain way and you thought you communicated it clearly, but your partner totally missed what you said and either it didn't get done or it wasn't done the way you wanted. It turns out that old classic, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, has some truth to it. However, this is a truth that is not just limited to our genders.
I'm sure some of you have heard of Gary Chapman's book, The 5 Love Languages. This particular book has sold millions of copies worldwide to people wanting a deeper connection with their spouse and has expanded in the recent years to include improving relationships between parents and their children, family members, and even interactions in the workplace. "The 5 Love Languages" idea is that we all have different languages we speak when it comes to how we give and receive love and appreciation. You can visit www.5lovelanguages.com to find out what your primary language is for free. I guarantee it will give you insight to how you feel most appreciated and begin expressing your needs more clearly to those around you.
Now for the challenge: by visiting www.lovelanguagechallenge.com, you can sign up and participate in a five week challenge (again - it's free!) to love your partner more effectively based on his or her specific love language. You will be given a weekly challenge "task" to complete that lines up with how your partner receives love and appreciation most effectively. You can also have your partner sign up and reciprocate to make it more fun for both of you.
I'd love to hear your stories after taking the challenge! What did you find most helpful? Which week was the most enjoyable? What did you discover about yourself and your partner?
